Amos G. Doupe, 78, of Norwich, NY, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Valley View Manor Nursing Facility, Norwich, NY.
Amos was born in German, NY, on May 18, 1940, the son of the late Russell and Adelaide Kinney Doupe. A lifetime resident of the area, he was a member of the United Methodist Church of Norwich. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post #189, Norwich. He had worked as a supervisor at Norwich Shoe Company for 30 plus years before leaving there to work for Kerry-Bioscience. He also worked as an auctioneer with Hugh Parker and then later as a self-employed auctioneer. In addition, he worked as a farrier shoeing horses and butchered for several local people. Amos was a hard-working man who loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol Crandall Doupe; and his children, Kelley (Scott) Carnachan of Norwich and Terri Doupe of Altamont Springs, FL. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Megan (Tim McKown) Carnachan and Sarah (Vincent) Nucero, all of Norwich; his great-grandchildren, Emerson Grace and Annley Scott McKown, and Addison Amelia Nucero; a nephew, Chuck Loomis, as well as several other nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his canine companion, Sadie Mae.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Horton, and a niece, Jody Loomis Blanchard.
