Lois B. (Brown) DeMond, 100, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the Cortland Regional Nursing Facility, Cortland, NY.
Mrs. DeMond was born in Freetown, NY, on May 16, 1917, the daughter of the late Clifford and Agnes Wallace Brown. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Cortland Normal School and a Master’s of Education Degree from Cortland State. She taught school at Cincinnatus Central School for 28 years, retiring in 1973. After retiring from Cincinnatus Central School, she taught school in Alaska for nine years. For the past four years, she had resided at the Brewster House in Homer where she received excellent care from Kimberly Wells and the staff.
She is survived by her children, Diana Ernst of Deltona, FL, and David (Bonnie) DeMond of St. Cloud, FL. She also leaves behind her granddaughters, Betsy Pease of LA, Amy Wilks of Wasila, AK, Lori Webster of Maple Valley, WA, Karen Ernst-Smith of FL, and Marlisa Sanders of Lakeland, FL; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kristin, Maci, Valori, Jonathon, Heather, Nicole, Clayton, Nickolaus, Sophia, Hannah, and Maddie; great-great-grandchildren, Dillon, Tony, and Rose; and a brother-in-law, Frank Thon of Marathon.
She was predeceased by her husband, Otto DeMond, in 1974; a son, Bruce DeMond, in 2013; a grandson, Robert DeMond, in 1990; sisters, Janet Thon and Evelyn Hunt; brothers, Harry Brown, Raymond Brown, and Malcolm Brown.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. There will be no prior calling hours.
