Robert H. Card, 77, of McGraw, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, after becoming ill at home.
Bob was born in Cortland, NY, on August 22, 1940, a son of the late Chester and Ruth Moore Card. A lifetime resident of the area, he was a member and trustee of the McGrawville Baptist Church. He retired from Agway MTS after 30 years of service and then worked for the Cortland County Highway Department. He owned and operated Card’s Maple Hill Farm in McGraw. He was a member of the NYS Herford’s Association and NYS Beef Producer’s Association, and was a member and past president of the American Herford Association. For over 40 years, he showed his cattle at the NYS Fair. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, his Australian Blue Heeler cattle dogs always help a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carole Anne Hoose Card; his sons, Stephen (Ann Marie) Card of Dryden and close family friend Tammi Young, and Darrell “Beaver” (Michele) Card of McGraw. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Dylan, Dustin, Daniele, Joshua, Tyler, Jackson, and Tayte; and a brother, Donald (Susan) Card, of Cortland.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles Card.
A memorial service will be held at the McGrawville Baptist Church on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. with his pastor, Reverend Fran Cochran officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bob may be directed to the McGrawville Baptist Church, P.O.
