Ronnie L. Owen, Sr., 62, of Marathon, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at his home.
Born in Barton, NY, Ronnie was the son of the late Jack and Evelyn Mintern Owen. He had worked at Buckbee Mears, Cortland, for several years. After leaving Buckbee Mears, he drove truck for David Quail Trucking, Marathon, before having his stroke. Ronnie was a diehard NY Giant and NY Mets fan. He enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren, fishing, bowling, hunting, coaching, woodworking, dog watching, mowing lawn, and playing golf.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia Quail Owen; and his children, Tracie (Michael) Byron, Christina (Michael) Rice, and Ronnie (Abbey) Owen, Jr. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Katelynn, Hailee, Nicholas, Tristin, Mason, Jacob, and Jaxton; his siblings, Cora (Tom) On, Jack Owen, Jr., Bill (Donna) Owen, Brenda (Dave) McGowan, and Janet Reynolds; in-laws, Wilfred (Debbie) Quail, Daniel (Theresa) Quail, David (Robin) Quail, and Sally Quail; his beloved canine companion, Daisy; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as many community members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Cheryl Baker and his in-laws, Wilfred and Hazel Quail.
A Celebration of Ronnie’s Life will be held at the Marathon Civic Center on Friday, February 1, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private burial will be in the spring. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ronnie may be directed to MAVAC, P.O. Box 132, Marathon, NY 13803.
