Aaron Joel Congdon, 75, of Truxton, NY, left his earthly home and went into the arms of Jesus for his eternal life on April 16, 2022, while surrounded by his family.
Aaron was born on October 19, 1946 to Junior and Ethel Bean Congdon and grew up in McGraw, NY. He graduated from McGraw Central School in 1964 and received his journeyman papers for toolmaker from Therm in Ithaca, NY. He worked at Monarch Machine as a machinist and Virginia Air.
In 1978 he married his soulmate, Lora Tennant. He loved his family, motorcycles, corvettes, woodworking, the beach, his country and doing folk art painting. He enjoyed being a member of The Cortland Art League.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Tennant Congdon; and his four children, Kurt (Kelly) Willard, Teresa Willard, Candace (Kevin) Burke and Jessica (Troy) Humphrey. This Grampy loved his ten grandchildren, Kameron, Kassie, Caleb, Kyle, Phoebe, Greta, Kristopher, Patrick, Juliet and Maya. His two great-grandchildren, Malea and McKinley. His sister, Sylvia Nowalk. Several special nieces, nephews and cousins. Close friends, John and Maryanne Penamonte, and Vicki Rawluszki. He has many lifelong friends dating back to high school.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ron and Tommy; sister-in-law, Janet Bays and brother-in-law, Kevin Bays.
He was the most selfless and caring man and will be greatly missed. He had tremendous faith and love for our Lord Jesus Christ and had the patience of a saint.
The family wishes to thank Traci Tufts, NP, from Palliative Care who coordinated getting him home, the wonderful Crouse Hospital nurses and doctors. Our local hospice and nurses, Julie Wesser Treacy and Kim Sharp.
There will be a celebration of his life on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary’s Love Assembly of God Church, 1315 Reynolds Road, Johnson City, NY, with Pastor Jerry Terry officiating. He loved the beach and the family would like those having flowery summer shirts to wear them. There will be a luncheon following the celebration. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Aaron may be directed to Calvary’s Love Assembly of God Church.
