Anna R. Pliszka

Anna R. Pliszka, 91, of Binghamton, NY, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Lourde’s Hospital, Binghamton, NY.

Born in Binghamton, NY on April 19, 1923, Mrs. Pliszka was the daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Wnek Dec.  She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Kirkwood where she was active with the Rosary Society.  She worked at E.J. Shoe Factory for several years and retired from the Binghamton Psychiatric Center.  Mrs. Pliszka and her husband, Tedor, truly lived the American dream, and through their diligence and hard work, came from nothing to establish their successful lives.  She loved the outdoors and spending time in her garden, but most important to her was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Tedor Pliszka, and her daughter, Catherine (TJ Donnelly) Painter of Pine Valley.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jessica Painter of Horseheads and Douglas (Kiba Wilson) Painter of Pine Valley; her great-grandchildren, Cadence, Madison, Payton, and Liam; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Josephine, Caroline, Walter, Nellie, Francis “Frank”, and Frances Dec and Mary Gasiorowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Kirkwood on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Thomas Hobbs as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery at a later date.  The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Pliszka may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
