Ashvil C. Rood

Ashvil C. Rood, 37, of Pitcher, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 28, 2013.

Ash was born in Hamilton, NY on March 27, 1976, a son of Richard and Ruth Fitch Rood.  For the past four years, he and his father owned R&S Ag Service in Pitcher.  Prior to that, he worked for several years at Suitkote.  In his spare time, he would assist the modified basketball team of Otselic Valley Central School to help his son, Carter.  A loving father and son, he had a larger than life personality and a heart bigger than the world.

In addition to his parents, Richard and Ruth Rood, of Pitcher, he is also survived by his wife, Geneia Rood and his children, Bethany Prince Rood, Ashvil Kevin Rood, and Carter James Rood.  He also leaves behind a sister, Vonda (Bob Woodmancy) Rood of Cicero; a brother, Todd (Diana) Rood of N. Pitcher; his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Rood of E. Freetown; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Alta Rood, in 1986.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of South Otselic on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Moore officiating.  Burial will be in North Pitcher Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ash may be made to Ruth Rood, 955 State Highway 26, Pitcher, NY 13136 to be used for the care of his young children.
