Beverly Irene Hurlburt

Beverly Irene (Benedict) Hurlburt, 78, of Cortland, NY, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018, at her home.

Mrs. Hurlburt was born in Chenango Forks, NY, on June 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Louis and Elva Hulbert Benedict.  A longtime resident of the area, she had been employed at Smith-Corona and Rubbermaid prior to her retirement.  A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed doing cross-stitch, playing Yahtzee, and cheering for her NY Yankees.

She is survived by her children, John (Nancy) Hurlburt, Jr. of McDonough, Jeffrey (Terry) Hurlburt of Cortland, Jerrold (Teresa) Hurlburt of Solon, Roxanne (Sam) Hotaling of Solon, Lisa (Brian) Davis of McGraw, and Renee Hammond of McGraw.  She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Lockwood Hurlburt, Sr.; grandchildren, Jason Hurlburt and Mark Wellauer; son-in-law, Ted Hammond III; brothers, Donald, Avery, Glenn, Robert, and Bernard; and sisters, Wilma and Bernice.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no prior calling hours or funeral service.  A private graveside service will be held at the Riverview Cemetery, Oxford, NY, at the convenience of the family.  A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Solon Sportsman’s Club on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 3:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Hurlburt may be directed to the American Heart Association, P.O.
