South Otselic, NY

C. Michael Sheridan, 73, of South Otselic, NY, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Binghamton General Hospital, Binghamton, NY.

Mike was born on September 29, 1951, in Alleghany County, PA, the son of Claude Matthew Sheridan and Elizabeth Kerr Sheridan. He was a man whose life bore the hallmarks of dedication, knowledge, and a deep commitment to service.

Following his early education at Bishop Kearney Central School, Mike graduated from a school near Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. He went on to attend Michigan State University, which laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for education. Mike dedicated many years of his career to teaching for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, where he inspired countless students. His later endeavors included a position at Guernsey Memorial Library, further showcasing his commitment to fostering a love for reading and learning in his community.

While residing in New York, Mike encountered a profound love in his life—a woman named Rose Avery. An artist and his closest friend, Rose brought joy and inspiration into Mike's world. Tragically, her untimely passing left a significant void in his life, yet the memories of their bond remained a source of strength and reflection for him.

Mike is survived by his beloved siblings, Mary (David) Weinstein of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Marty (Brian) Marsh of Oceanview, Hawaii, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him for his wisdom, warmth, and dedication to the arts of teaching and learning.

In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Alghamdi in 2021.
