Carol Ann Bell Simmons

August 13, 1956 — March 13, 2013

Carol A. Bell Simmons, 56, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, after becoming ill at home.

Carol was born in New Jersey on August 13, 1956, a daughter of the late Donald and Mae Grow Ohls.  A longtime resident of this area, she was a lifetime member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department Auxiliary.  In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and working in her garden.  When her children were small, she was very active with them in school and their activities and all of her children’s classmates thought of the world of Carol.  To this day, classmates of her children still refer to her affectionally as “Ma Bell.”

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Jerry Simmons; and her children, Robert Bell and Juanita (Damon) Larrabee, all of Cincinnatus.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ryan Larrabee, Courtney Coombs-Bell, Jordan Larrabee, and Ava Larrabee; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She will especially be missed by her canine companion, Missy.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Palmer Neumeister officiating.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Carol may be directed to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
