Charles (Chuck) Ross Eyerly, 82, of Bluffton, S.C. passed away Saturday October 11, 2025. He was born April 1, 1943 to Gertrude (King) Eyerly and Charles King. During his late teen years, Read and Elaine Adams, who became like parents to him, were his guardians. He is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Lou Fish, his parents, in-laws Maynard and Mildred Fish, foster brother John R. Adams, sister-in-law Betty White, and brother-in-law Edgar Scranton. Chuck is survived by Dennis King (Dansville, NY), Karen Adams (Erie, PA), Robert (Gretchen) Adams (Thomson, GA), Bunny Schlegel (Sterling, NY), and brother-in-law Dick White (Cincinnatus, NY). He is survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, including Samantha (Kyle) King (Cato, NY), Joshua (Taylor) Scranton (Newark, NY), Amanda (Sean) Todt (Fulton, NY), and Sarah White (Dryden, NY), as well as extended family Julie A. Adams (Corvallis, OR).
He graduated from Greene Central School in 1961 and began working at Sears Roebuck Company in Binghamton, before beginning his career at IBM Endicott. While working for IBM, he graduated with his associates degree from Broome Technical College. Chuck received many awards during his 33 years at IBM, before retiring in 1998. After retiring from IBM in Rochester, MN, Chuck and Bonnie moved briefly back home to New York before moving to Dunnellon, Florida. After Bonnie’s passing in 2016, Chuck moved to Sun City in Bluffton, South Carolina,
Chuck was an active member of the United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees) and rose to the level of Senator. He was a champion bowler, and always active whether it was fishing, golfing, hunting, softball, walking, etc. Chuck was known for always having his camera and taking excellent pictures. He and Bonnie traveled to St. John, Virgin Islands frequently through the early 1980s and after moving to Florida, their favorite vacation spot was Jekyll Island, GA and Sanabel Island, FL. They loved nature, gardening and bird watching. Chuck chose Sun City to be close Hilton Head Island and the ocean. After moving there, he very quickly made many friends while fishing, golfing, playing poker, organizing dine around, etc.
The family wishes to thank all of Chuck’s Sun City family for becoming his second family and watching out for him.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m . The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Chuck may be directed to the National Audubon Society, Attention: Donations, 225 Varick Street – 7th Floor, New York, NY 10014.
