Craig L. Standish, 68, of Willet, NY, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at his home, with his daughter by his side.

 

Craig was born in Cortland, NY, on February 27, 1955, the son of the late Roger and Barbara Briggs Standish.  A lifelong resident of the area he had worked as a construction foreman for Paragon Environmental Construction, Brewerton, NY, until his retirement.  Prior to that, he had worked for Grumman Boat for 20 plus years where he also played and served as an assistant coach for the company softball team.  Craig enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He loved spending time on his land and enjoyed the fruits of his labor with his wife, Margaret, who predeceased him.  He was also a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

 

He is survived by his children, Duane (Judy) Standish of McGraw, Michelle Hewlett of Cortland, Shaye (William) Jasper Dougherty of Killawog, and BreAnn (Nathaniel) Call of Stokes, NC.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tesla Standish, Makayla Standish, Austin Standish, Devon Hewlett, Kylee Hewlett, Audrey Jasper, Landon Dougherty, Lucas Call, Liam Call, and Logan Call; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Pat Houghton, Terry Standish, Cindy (Bill Wheeler) Standish, Linda (Ray) Billings, and Roger (Bonnie) Standish; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Shepard; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

In addition to his parents, Roger and Barbara Standish, and his wife, Margaret, he was predeceased by siblings Kathy Shepard and Gary Standish, and twin grandchildren, Rachel and Andrew Jasper.

 

A celebration of Craig’s Life will be held at a later date.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Craig may be directed to the Cortland County SPCA, 879 McLean Road, Cortland, NY 13045.
