Dallas R. Black

June 30, 1985 — March 5, 2012

Dallas R. Black, 26, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 5, 2012, at his home.

Dallas was born in Norwich, NY on June 30, 1985, a son of Vicki Wood Staley and Martin G. Black. A graduate of Cincinnatus Central School, he was a member of the Willet Rod & Gun Club and an honorary member of the Knickerbocker Country Club. He was employed with Family Drywall and the Knickerbocker Country Club. An avid sports fan, he loved soccer, basketball, golf, fishing and shooting clay pigeons and was proud to be a fan of Syracuse University, the N.Y. Mets, and the Washington Redskins. He loved to dance, but most important to Dallas was the time he spent with his nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He is survived by his mother, Vicki Wood Staley, of Cincinnatus; his father, Martin G. Black of Summerhill; his stepfather, Brian F. McNally of Cincinnatus; a sister, Shiloh (Bill) Aldrich of Cincinnatus; and brothers, Shane Kemak of Cincinnatus and Casey Black. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Jean Wood, of Cincinnatus; his paternal grandmother, Constance Black of Reno, NV; nieces and nephews, Chris Jackson, Madison Kemak, Alexis, William, Madeline, and Natalie Aldrich; his best friend, Brooke Knickerbocker of Cincinnatus; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; his second families, the Knickerbocker's, the King's, and the Breed's; his chocolate Labrador companion, Ron; and many close friends.

He was predeceased by a brother, A.J. Black, in 1999; his maternal grandfather, Jack Wood, in 1992; his paternal grandfather, Fred Black, in 2003; and his maternal great-grandparents, Harland and Nellie Nefsey.

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs and Jeanne Angell officiating. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Dallas may be directed to the Joint Youth Commission, (to benefit Cincinnatus-Willet-Pitcher-German-Taylor), Willet Town Hall, 1425-1427 NYS Route 41, Willet, NY 13863.
