David George Applegate, born on April 20, 1954, in Sidney, NY, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2025, in Norwich, NY at the age of 71.

David was the son of the late George and Florence Applegate. He dedicated many years of his life to his career as a self-employed welder, a profession that showcased his skill and dedication. Outside of work, he was known for his vibrant personality and a love for leisure activities. An avid pool player, David was a proud member of the American Legion Billiard Club, where he spent countless hours honing his skills and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. His passion for adventure was also seen in his enthusiasm for metal detecting, which allowed him to explore the outdoors while hunting for treasures.

He leaves behind his daughter, Nicole (Wade) Moore of Norwich, and his cherished grandchildren: Chelsea (Daniel) Stanton of Tennessee, Derek (Amanda Martin) Moore of Norwich, and Devin (Taylor Tynon) Moore of Sherburne. David was also a proud great-grandfather to Natalie Stanton, Landen Stanton, and Derek "Tumbleweed" Moore, Jr. David is further survived by his brothers, Kevin Applegate and Brian Applegate, both of Sidney, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death sisters, Kathy Jennings and Brenda Carson.

A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at a later date and time. Expressions of sympathy in memory of David may be directed to the American Legion Post 189, 29 Sheldon Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
