David P. Miller, Sr.

David P. Miller, Sr., 80, of Pitcher, NY, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 4, 2022, while surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.

 

David was born in Norwich, NY, on May 12, 1942, the son of the late Paul and Ella Louise Jennison Miller.  A longtime resident of the area, he retired from the Otselic Valley Central School where he had worked as a bus driver for 28 years.  He had also owned and operated Miller’s Video for 30 years.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.  In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp and, when time permitted, fishing.

 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Bishop Miller; and his children, Michael E. (Penny) Rogers of Maryland, Joseph P. (Melissa) Miller of Pitcher, Danny L. Miller of South Otselic, Troy A. (Valerie) Miller of Pennsylvania, Aaron L. (Robin) Miller of South Otselic, Lisa L. (Milt) Cruikshank of Pharsalia, and Robert E. (Lyndsey) Cook of Pitcher.  He also leaves behind 25 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); a sister, Jacquelyn (Robert) Wilcox of Norwich; a close family friend who was like a son to David, Terry (Kelly) DuBois of Beaver Meadow; and a lifetime friend, Kevin (Lori) Moon of North Pitcher.

 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sons, Jeffrey D. Miller and David P Miller, Jr., and siblings, Dennis Miller, Marilyn Quinney, and Barbara Kaiser.

 

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at the North Pitcher Cemetery on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 12:30 p.m.  There will be no prior calling hours or funeral services.
