David F. Steacy, Sr., 64, of Cuyler, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at his home.
David was born in Alexandria Bay, NY, on April 13, 1955, the son of the late Jess Steacy, Jr., and Hazel Tibbles Steacy. A longtime resident of the area, he was a life member of the Cuyler Fire Department. He was also a member of the Quad County ATV Riders. David enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time in the outdoors, and years ago, enjoyed talking on his CB radio where he was known as “Has Ben.”
He is survived by his wife, Jean Marshall, and his children, David “Scooby (Julie) Steacy, Jr. of Cincinnatus, Linda (Adam) Burrows of Cuyler, Tammy (Michael, Sr.) Galeotti of Homer, Timothy Marshall of Cuyler, and James (Heather) Marshall of Cuyler. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Carol Pittsley and Jessie (Keith) Fisk, all of Cincinnatus, Mae “Mary” Tanner of South Otselic, Marian Clendenning of Cortland, June (Richard) Graves of DeRuyter, Stacy (Heath) Phillips of Cincinnatus, and Melissa Pearl Steacy of Cortland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Muriel E. Steacy, in 1993.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa, NY, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. There will also be a celebration of David’s life at the Cuyler Fire Station on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in David’s memory may be made to the ASPCA, 879 McLean Road, Cortland, NY 13045.
