Donna Lee Maroney

Donna Lee (Burmester) Maroney, 59, of Cortland, NY, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, NY, after a lengthy illness.

Donna was born in Sandbrook, NJ on January 21, 1950, a daughter of the late Mary A. Moore and Lenwill F. Burmester, Sr. A longtime resident of Cortland County she was employed by the YWCA Learning Adventure Program in Cortland for the last 17 years.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Ann Maroney of Colonial Heights, VA and Kimberly Lynn Maroney of Truxton, NY. Her dear companion, Barry Wood of Cincinnatus, NY. She is also survived by her brother Rick (Yumi) Burmester and sister, Cynthia (Timothy) Byers. She also leaves behind by her nephews Lenwill and Brett Burmester and niece Lillian Byers.

Her sister Lenora Burmester predeceased her on April 4, 2004.

Donna loved time with her family and beloved dogs. She loved the children she cared for and enjoyed a quiet and simple life.

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Saturday, April 4, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. After a procession by her home, a graveside ceremony will be held at the Cincinnatus Cemetery on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.
