Doris Ann Tracy

December 17, 1938 — January 3, 2021

Doris Ann Tracy, 82, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 3, 2021, while surrounded by the family that loved her the most.

Born in Binghamton, NY, on December 17, 1938, Doris was the daughter of the late Henry Taylor Rose, Sr., and Florence Furman Rose.  A resident of Cincinnatus for most of her life, she was a graduate of Cincinnatus Central School.  In March 1959, she married the love of her life, Norman L. Tracy.  Married for 60 years, Norman predeceased her on February 6, 2020.  Throughout her life, she had been employed as a meat cutter at Rowe's Red and White in DeRuyter, and Bob’s Food Store in McGraw, eventually retiring from Rubbermaid in Cortland.  Always willing to lend a helping hand, Doris was a longtime member and past vice president of the Cincinnatus Fire Department Auxiliary.  She also volunteered at Cortland-Chenango Rural Services, the American Red Cross, and helped at the Taylor Cemetery Annual Memorial Day Dinner.  She was a member of the Cincinnatus Alumni Association and enjoyed taking bus trips to the casino.  A loving and caring woman, Doris will be missed dearly by her family and many friends.

Doris is survived by her children, Scott (Patty) Fredenburg of Leesburg, FL, Norman A. (Rose) Tracy of Cortland, Christine (Jeffrey) Crandall of McGraw, Richard (Kim Wentworth) Tracy of Homer, Dennis (Tina) Tracy of McGraw, Doreen Brewster of Cincinnatus, and Carolyn (Stephen Elwood) Tracy Nowalk of McGraw.  She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, including her granddaughter, Cheyenne Nowalk, with whom she shared a very special bond; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Delores) Rose of McGraw; sisters, Katherine Raymond of Pitcher, Pearl Gillette of Cortland, and Clara Byron of Cincinnatus; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Kevin Tracy, in 1982; and brothers, Henry Rose, Jr., and Richard Rose.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Doris may be directed to Cortland-Chenango Rural Services, P.O. Box 57, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospicare of Cortland and to the Cayuga Medical Center for their excellent care and communication.  A very special thank you to Allie Burch, FNP, and Kiersten Thompson for helping during their mom’s illness and final days.
