Dorothy P. Cummings

Dorothy P. Cummings, 88, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the Cortland Regional Nursing Facility with her family by her side.

Dottie was born in Buffalo, NY, on December 14, 1934.  She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus.  She retired from the Cortland County Health Department where she had worked as a medical transcriptionist for over 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Diane) Cummings of Oxford, Diane Cummings of Cortland, Beth (Gene) Wood, Dannette (Wade) Tomlinson, and Matthew (Denise Rice) Cummings, all of Cincinnatus.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Justine Cummings, Daniel (Kerri Brown) Tomlinson, Adam Tomlinson, Danielle (Dayton Brown) Wood, Darcie (Nick Lindley) Wood, and Jacob Cummings; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hubbert and Isaiah Tomlinson; a sister, Irene Parker of Cooperstown.  

She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Cummings in 1997. 

Funeral services for Dottie will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor George Carruth officiating.  Burial will be in Cincinnatus Cemetery.  There will be no prior calling hours.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Dottie may be directed to the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus, 5695 Deerpath Lane, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
