Duane E. Lacy, 81, passed away on March 11, 2019 in Greer, SC after a long illness.
Duane was born in New Castle, IN in 1937, the son of John and Nellie Lacy. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1974, reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. He did a tour in Vietnam from 1968-1969, where he earned the Bronze Star for meritorious service. After retiring from the Air Force, he moved to Upstate New York where he earned an associate’s degree from SUNY Morrisville. He then worked as the Chenango County Director of Literacy Volunteers of America and was a volunteer fireman for the Pharsalia Fire Department.
He is survived by his Son, Benjamin P. Lacy and daughter-in-law Debra (Rohde) Lacy, of Greer, SC, his daughter, Rhonda (Lacy) Farrell, and son-in-law Matthew Farrell of Woodhaven, NY; grandsons, Michael Lacy, and Joshua Lacy, of Greer, SC. He is also survived by his sister Joan Tungate of New Castle, IN.
He is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Zelda Lacy, his brothers Lloyd Lacy and Steve Lacy, and his sister Linda Wise.
Graveside services, with military honors, for Mr. Lacy will be held at Wayside Rest Cemetery, Pharsalia, on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.
