Eleanor May (Locke) Price, 86, of Pitcher, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY, while surrounded by her loving family.
Eleanor was born in Norwich, NY, on August 7, 1939, the daughter of the late Winfield Locke, Sr. and Mildred Gross Locke. She lived a rich and fulfilling life that touched many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was a proud 1957 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School, exemplifying the spirit of her community throughout her life. Eleanor dedicated 40 years of her life to the Norwich Pharmaceutical Company, where her work ethic and commitment left a lasting impact.
Her greatest passion was her love for sports, particularly the Syracuse Orangemen Men and Women's Basketball teams. A devoted fan, she also held a special place in her heart for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the winning Los Angeles Dodgers. Eleanor was an avid supporter of local initiatives, contributing to the Cincinnatus Central School Sports Booster Club, further demonstrating her love for her community and its youth.
An active member of the church, Eleanor served as a member and Deacon of the Pitcher Federated Church for many years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found joy in attending Sunday church services at home with close friends Debbie Root, and Geary and June Rounds. Additionally, she was an Auxiliary member of the Oscar Robinson American Legion Post, showcasing her commitment to service and fellowship.
Eleanor's vibrant personality shone through in her various hobbies and interests. She enjoyed bowling for Mary's Beauty Salon, knitting, crocheting, and assembling jigsaw puzzles. A fantastic cook and baker, she delighted in preparing food for gatherings with the Cincinnatus Fire Department, leaving a flavorful legacy.
Eleanor was surrounded by the warmth of her family during her final moments. She is survived by her children: Robert (Brenda) Price, Jr. of Berkshire, Steven (Ronney) Price of Cincinnatus, Richard Price of Pitcher, Shelby (Leigh) Wright of Wirtz, VA, Stacy (James) Durham of Newnan, GA, and Cindy Campbell of Troy, TX. Her siblings include Winfield Locke, Jr. of Texas and Mary Comfort of South Otselic, along with sister-in-law Nancy Price of Moravia. Eleanor was a cherished grandmother to 21 grandchildren, a loving great-grandmother to 25 great-grandchildren, and a proud great-great-grandmother to 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Robert Price, Sr., her sister Ethel Graves, her brother Truman Locke, granddaughter Kimberly Casper, and her beloved basset hounds Holly, Mistletoe, Bingo, and Daisy May.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Pitcher Cemetery.
