Elsie S. (Connor) Totman, 93, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pitcher, NY, on February 26, 1933, Elsie was the daughter of the late Alton and Beatrice “Geneva” Hubbell Connor. A lifelong resident of the area, Elsie was a 1952 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School.
Elsie will be remembered for the care she gave to others and for the many ways she shared her time and talents with her family, her church, and her community. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, for the church, and for events at the Cincinnatus Christian Academy. She also enjoyed working with many youth groups, including the girls' club, and her kindness and steady presence touched many lives through those efforts.
Family was at the heart of Elsie’s life. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Diaz and her husband, Henry III, of Marathon; her sons, Philip Totman of Cincinnatus and Bradley Totman and his wife, Torri, of Cortland; her son-in-law, Brian Hull and his wife, Carolyn, of Cincinnatus; grandchildren, Robert (Jaime) Diaz, Heather (Jacob) Preston, Amy (George) Nash, Jacob (Lindsey) Totman, Kalli (Nick Gray) Totman, Jared Totman, Brandon (Taylor) Totman, and Nathanael Totman. She also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren and her brother, Douglas Connor of Cincinnatus. Her family will continue to cherish her memory and carry forward the love she shared with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clarence Totman on February 19, 2018; her daughter, Valerie Totman Hull on November 12, 2010; her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Totman on September 4, 2019, and her brother, Walter Connor on June 8, 2001. Their memories remained an important part of her life and will be held close by those who knew and loved them all.
Funeral services for Elsie will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. with her pastor, Reverend Mark Brown officiating. A private committal will follow at Taylor Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 12:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Elsie may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus, c/o Jeff Blanchard, P.O. Box 220, Cincinnatus, NY 13040 to benefit many of the church’s youth programs.
Elsie will be remembered with love for her devotion to family, her generous spirit, and the warmth she brought to gatherings both large and small. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
