G. Richard Dodge, 86, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away peacefully at the Crown Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, Cortland, NY.

Richard was born on February 13, 1939, the son of the late George Clyde Dodge and Mary Flanders Dodge. Rich led a life filled with purpose, dedication, and love, which he shared with his family and community.

Rich had a distinguished career in the lumber industry, retiring from Hammond Lumber. Post-retirement, he lent his expertise as a consultant to various other lumber companies, showcasing his commitment to the craft and the industry he cherished.

A dedicated member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus, Richard had been an active participant in community life. His contributions extended beyond his church; he previously served on the Cincinnatus School Board, demonstrating his deep investment in the future of education. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Free & Accepted Masons, where he fostered connections and friendships that enriched his life.

Rich’s passions were varied, and among them was his love for volleyball, where he enjoyed both the competition and camaraderie of the sport. He was known for his warm smile and kind heart, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Rich is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Rathbone Dodge, with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter, Dr. Christy (Scott Hargash) Dodge, who resides in Australia, and his cherished grandsons, Scott Daniel Dodge Hargash and George Lucky Ramon Dodge.

In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his sons, George Richard Dodge, Jr., and Ramon Daniel Dodge, and his brother, Dr. Robert Kendall Dodge.

In keeping with the wishes of the family, no services will be held. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Rich may be directed to The ALS Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022.

As we remember Rich, we celebrate a man who embodied dedication, warmth, and a spirit of service. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created with those who loved him.
