Geary A. Livermore, 77, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, while surrounded by his family.
Born in Cincinnatus, NY on July 9, 1938, Geary was the son of the late Leonard and Helen Connell Livermore. He retired from the U.S. Navy after faithfully serving our country for twenty years. A longtime resident of this area, he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus. Always active in the community, he was a member of the American Legion; served as Cincinnatus Town Justice and Town Supervisor; former member of the Cincinnatus School Board; and a school bus driver for the Cincinnatus School District. He also established and operated the Three M Dry Goods in Cincinnatus for ten years and worked for the U.S. Post Office as a rural letter carrier for several years. A loving father, husband, and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Smith Livermore; and his daughters, Macy (Bill) Cobb of Cincinnatus, Melanie (Mitchell) Smith of Taylor, and Mitzi (Jim) MacCallum of Portland, OR. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Kristin, Rachel, Mark, Hannah, Mallory, Dylan, and Shannon; a great-grandson, Logan; his sister, Linda Hayden of Cincinnatus; an uncle, Robert A. Livermore; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald and Glenn Livermore.
Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus on Friday, September 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor George Carruth and Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Geary may be directed to the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, c/o Elaine Oros, 5771 McFarlane Road, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
