Jean L. Oralls

Jean L. (Burdick) Oralls, 86, of DeRuyter, NY, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.

Jean was born in Georgetown, NY, on June 3, 1936, the daughter of the late Arlo and Florence Fox Burdick.  A longtime resident of the area, she enjoyed going to garage sales, going out to eat, and cooking.  Most importantly, Jean loved her family above all else.

She is survived by her children, Doris J. (Roger) Rice of Pitcher and Louis R. Bruno of Lincklaen Center. Her grandchildren, Sherry (Wayne) Bort of Hayes, VA; and her children, Ashlee (Cody) Robinson and Derek (Ciarra) Bort and their children, Reagan Bort, Clayton Robinson; Steven (Dawn) Thompson; their children, Kiersten, Victoria and Maddison Thompson; Jeff (Amy) Rice of Pitcher, their children, Marisa (Tanner) Raymond and their son Levi Raymond; Makenzie Rice (Austin Rutan); Karin (Michael) Owen of Solon, and their children, Parker, Emilee and Jameson Owen; a sister, Bonnie Young of DeRuyter, a brother, Melvin (Jean) Coon of DeRuyter, a sister-in-law, Kathleen (Carl) Hicks of Cortland; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her first husband, Louis R. Bruno, Sr. in 1960 and her second husband, Merton Oralls in 2014.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in the spring of the year.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jean may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
