Jesse Diaz

May 19, 1948 — March 11, 2011

Jesse "Corky" Diaz, 62, decided to take the path to his Lord on Friday, March 11, 2011, at his brother's home in Taylor, NY.

Jesse was born on May 19, 1948 in Willet, NY and resided in Syracuse, NY. He truly loved his daughters, his grandchildren, and had a special place in his heart for others.

Jesse grew up in Willet, NY and moved in with the Robert Potter Family in Cincinnatus, NY where he spent his last two years before he graduated from Cincinnatus Central School in 1967. He joined the U.S. Air Force soon after graduation and served on active duty until 1971. While serving in England he met and married his first true love, Rasheeda, and they had two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Jacqueline. After returning to New York he worked a couple years at Smith Corona in Cortland but soon learned that his special journey in life would lead him to joining the Active U.S. Air Force Reserves at Hancock Field in Syracuse and becoming a full time Government Service Worker in Munitions. He loved his Unit, his job and especially his many, many friends and co-workers. This is where he met his second true love and second wife, Heidi Grosser. They ended up going their separate ways, but they still remained true friends. He was special that way, as with his first wife, they remained close friends, traveled together and enjoyed special time together. He achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, served a tour of duty in Desert Storm, Iraq, and received too many commendations and awards to list. After retiring from both his AF Reserve and Government Service jobs he spent his time traveling, buying/fixing up, and selling houses all over the Syracuse area and precious time with his family and friends. Jesse loved soccer, bowling, hunting, going on wine tours, and his "cars." He had a great sense of humor, was fun to be around, and truly enjoyed the time he spent on this earth.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer (Warren) Crysler of N. Syracuse and Jacqueline (Todd) LaFex of Fayetteville; sisters, Diane Johnson of Seminole, OK, Donna Goff of New Milford, PA, Darla (Larry) Rutan of Willet, Debra (Michael) Docalavich of Maiden, NC; brother Kenneth (Patricia) Diaz of Taylor; and five grandchildren, Katelyn, Breanna, Dylan, Morgan and Madison.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus "Jesse" Diaz, his mother, Mildred Diaz and younger brother, Stanley "Doc" Diaz.

Corky will be missed by all. His quick whit and sharp smile will always be in our memories.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service for the family will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Marathon Ambulance Squad and/or the Cincinnatus Ambulance Squad.
