Joan B. Jerauld

Arriving at the end of a twelve year journey with Alzheimers, Joan Bundy Jerauld, 73, passed peacefully at her home of thirty-five years in Berkshire, NY on March 2, 2013. Four generations of loving family were in close attendance.

Joan was born at the Parshall Hospital in Oneonta, NY on October 9, 1939. She was the daughter of Burnette Bundy and Norma Lobdell Bundy, both deceased, who were lifetime residents of Otego NY.  She graduated high school from Otego Central and Albany Business College in 1957. She married Ronald Jerauld, also of Otego, in the Otego Baptist Church on Febuary 14, 1958, fifty-five years ago this past Valentine’s Day.

Joan’s lifetime career was dedicated to nurturing of family while her avocation was accounting. She worked as a Bookkeeper at local dealerships Johnson’s Chevrolet, Oneonta and Whitaker and Son, Sidney as well as involvement in family businesses. Later, she devoted her last sixteen professional years to home health care service in rural Tioga County, NY.

Included in her lifetime of service to others was the Baptist Church, Fireman’s Auxiliary, Food Co-Op, Den Mother, Odyssey of the Mind Coach, Media Mom, Soccer-Baseball-Football-Wrestling-Track-Tennis-Field Hockey-Cross Country-Motocross-Canoe Race Mom and Grandmom. She was an accomplished seamstress, down-home gourmet cook, Barbizon model, pro racetrack scorer, sanctioned drag racer, marathon canoe racer, home maker and home builder. Topping the list: world class great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and wife.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Burnette and Norma and brother Darryl of Otego, her mother and father in-law Kenneth and Mary Jerauld of Otego and her great-grandson Logan Hoover of Newark Valley, NY. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ron Jerauld of Berkshire, NY, sons Scott Jerauld and his wife Susan of Bainbridge, NY, Michael Jerauld and his wife Robin of Otego, Randall Jerauld and his wife Lori of Newark Valley, NY, Terry and his wife Mari of Whitney Point, NY, daughter Rhonna of Dryden, NY and daughter-in-law Robin Settle Jerauld of Otego. Grandchilren include: Tygher Jerauld and fiancé Janelle Tullish of Hull, MA, Winsley Jerauld of Voorheesville, NY, Torey Jerauld, Boston, MA, Tanner and Tyler Jerauld of Otego, NY, Jennifer Hoover of Newark Valley, NY, Katie and Meghan Jerauld of Newark Valley, NY,  Kyle, Kelsey and Kristen Jerauld of Whitney Point, NY and Matthew Jerauld of Freeville, NY. Great-grandsons are Jackson and Wyatt Hoover of Newark Valley, NY.

Joan was committed to the care of the K. L. Sharp Funeral Home in Cincinnatus, NY, where a private service was held on Wednesday, March 6. A later memorial service is planned and will be announced. Joan’s ashes will be returned home to wait for her husband, Ron. They will be committed together to the Bundy Cemetery in Otego, NY.
