Obituary

JoAnn S. (Hotaling) Wyatt, 72, of Solon, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at her home in Solon, with her family by her side.

Born on Cortland, NY in August 13, 1953, JoAnn was the daughter of the late Robert and Patricia Platt Hotaling. She dedicated much of her life to caring for others, exemplified by her 31 years of service as a central sterile technician at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay, from which she retired in 2020.

Throughout her career, JoAnn was known for her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to the highest standards of patient care, making a lasting impact on the hospital community and those who had the privilege of working alongside her.

JoAnn’s life was enriched by her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Heather (Jason) O'Rourke of Marathon and Melissa Fox of West Virginia, who carry forward her legacy and spirit. Her cherished grandchildren, Brianna (Joey) Ricks of Florida, Brenden (Amber Price) O'Rourke of Theresa, Zachary O'Rourke of Montana, JoAnna Petrella of West Virginia, and Danica Fox of West Virginia, along with her great-grandchildren, Hailey Ricks of Florida and Harmony O'Rourke and Jasper O’Rourke of Theresa, were sources of great joy and pride to her. JoAnn was also a beloved sister to Karen (Dale) Maricle of Solon, Bonnie (Bud) Bearup of McGraw, Linda Hotaling of McGraw, Lori (Dale) Jacobs of Cortland, Patty Sue (Gary) Norton of Groton, and Jake (Brenda) Hotaling of Solon. Her life was further surrounded by the love of her sister-in-law, Tina Hotaling, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Will Wyatt, who passed away on October 26, 2019, and her brother, Robert Hotaling, Jr. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, especially those she nurtured and cared for, both within her family and throughout her professional life.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral services. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to a the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike - Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.

In this time of loss, her family treasures the many moments shared with JoAnn, whose kindness, dedication, and unwavering love will forever be remembered and celebrated.
