John A. Edwards

John A. Edwards, 54, of McDonough, NY, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, following an extended illness.

John was born in Norwich on November 27, 1955, a son of the late Richard E. and Evelyn M. Welch Edwards. He attended the Faith Bible Church. Before his illness, he was employed by Saunders Concrete, Cortland, where he was a member of the Teamster's Union. He was also a member of the Ligonier Ministries. John was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Sharon Campbell Edwards, of McDonough; his children, Raegan (Jason) Rhodes of McDonough, and R.J. (Sharla) Boykin and Ryan (Samantha) Boykin, all of Phoenix, AZ. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Matthew L. Boykin and Amber Jean Boykin; brothers, Lloyd B. Shaver of Burnet, TX and Hank (Barbara) Edwards of Norwich; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Alfred P. Shaver.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Sunday, October 3, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Norman Holtz officiating. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of John may be directed to the Faith Bible Church Building Fund, P.O.
