Joe was born in Brooklyn, NY, on June 25, 1950, the son of the late Benjamin and Josephine Baglino Accardi.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.  He retired from the Town of Lincklaen Highway Department in 2012 and was an over the road truck driver for 40 years.  He was a member and assistant chief of the Cincinnatus Fire Department and a member of the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad.  He had also been a member of the Yaphank Fire Department in Yaphank, NY.  For a number of years, he owned Accardi Sanitation in Pitcher, NY.  He truly enjoyed his daily cup of coffee with his friends at Magro’s while scratching off his lottery tickets.  One of his greatest joys was camping at R&R campground where they affectionally called him “Papa Joe.”

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Donna Ellington Accardi; and his children, Suzanne (Timothy) Hollinger of Lititz, PA, Randy (Laura) Dickens of Southbury, CT, Lisa (Leon) Lamparter of Mohnton, PA, and Michael (Patricia) Accardi of Patchogue, Long Island.  In addition he leaves behind his brothers, Tom (Rita Mae) Accardi of Willet and Bernard Accardi of Medford, NY; a sister-in-law, Diane Accardi of Yaphank, NY; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, James and Patrick Accardi.

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Palmer Neumeister officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will be in Pitcher Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe may be directed to the Cincinnatus Fire Department, P.O.
