Joseph M. White, Sr., 60, of Pitcher, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
Born in Cortland, NY on June 21, 1955, Joe was a son of the late Malcolm and Jane Brown White. A lifelong resident of this area, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp and National Guard for 20 years and was a member of the Knickerbocker American Legion Post #596. He retired from Raymond Corp., Greene, NY after several years of service. He also served as a mail carrier for the USPS in the Otselic Valley for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bernice Standish White; and his children, Annette (Richard) Roberts, Joseph (Anna Pittsley) White, Jr., and Michael White, all of Pitcher. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Judy (Ron) Frycek of Horseheads and Valerie (Troy) Miller of PA; a brother, Rodney (Robin) White of Norwich; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend James Hundley officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Willet Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
