Judson S. Vickery, Jr., 84, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Vickery was born in Pitcher, NY on November 1, 1926, a son of the late C. Judson and Viola Sutliff Vickery. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended Cincinnatus Central School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a combat engineer during WWII. He was a life member of the DAV. He worked several construction jobs throughout his life and enjoyed working on bridge construction the most. He, along with his wife, Shirley Bush Vickery, who predeceased him in 1992, served as foster parents to several children throughout the years.
He is survived by his son, Judson E. (Bonni) Vickery, III; and his granddaughters, Billyjoe (Yukiko Franco) Vickery and Jaclyn (Charles, Jr.) Golley. He also leaves behind his sisters, Ellen Taft, Florence Matthews, and Elise Rainbow.
In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Kensel Vickery, and brothers, Charles and Obert.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, a memorial service will be held at a later date and time. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY.
