Katherine M. Skinner

Katherine M. Skinner, 87, of Chenango Forks, NY, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Lourde’s Hospital, Binghamton, NY, following a brief illness.

Born in Syracuse, NY on January 22, 1929, Katherine was the daughter of the late John and Edith Torrey Wilson.  Katherine loved to try her luck at gambling and could often be found at Tioga Downs or the Turning Stone Casino.  She also loved to cook for her family who affectionately referred to her kitchen as “Katie’s Kitchen.”

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Skinner of Chenango Forks, Linda Ward, of Greene, Sandy (Daniel) McNeilly of Chenango Forks, and Donald (Christina) Skinner of Chenango Forks.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Stacy (Timothy) Joslin of Willet, Dan (Nicole) McNeilly of Auburn, Lindsey McNeilly of Auburn, Trishia Skinner of Harrisburg, PA, Jamie Skinner of Apalachin, and Katelyn Skinner of Chenango Forks; a great-grandson, Ryan Brown; sisters, Lucy Perun of Mattydale, and Shirley Hugen of Watertown; special friends, Darwin, Rita, and Mary; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Skinner, on August 30, 2010; a son, John Skinner, in 1976; and brothers, John and Harold Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Monday, May 23, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.  Burial will be in Willet Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Katherine may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
