Linda Lee Eccleston died peacefully at her home in Taylor, NY, on the morning of Wednesday, June 25, 2025. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Linda was born in Norwich, NY, on August 27, 1952 to Mary H. Boise and Richard L. Brown. She is a 1970 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School. Following high school she attended Auburn Community College receiving an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. In the early 80’s she was an assistant nursery school teacher at the Presbyterian Church in Cincinnatus. Linda went on to become a dental assistant for Dr. Qasi in Cortland before settling into a long career at Cortland Memorial Hospital and Cortland Regional Medical Center, retiring in 2016.
Linda enjoyed getting together with her family, visits with her girls from work and spending time with her husband at their camp on Black Lake. She loved fishing, working in her flower beds and hosting events for family and friends. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Linda lost her loving mother Mary earlier this year on March 5th. She will also be greeted by her father Richard Brown, step-father Robert Eccleston, mother and father in-law L. Dewey and Phyllis Eccleston, step-sisters Dawn Martinez and Brenda Breed, a step-brother, Roger Benjamin, and brother in-laws Gerald and Donald Eccleston.
Linda’s memory will live on through her husband Mitchel Eccleston, daughter Keri (James) Wright, step-daughter Lindsey (Lynn VanPatten) Eccleston, step-son Matthew Eccleston, granddaughter Brooklee VanPatten, sisters Chris Aiken (Chris Smith), Connie (Larry) McFarland and Janice (Rich) Sloan, step-sisters Yvonne (Richard) Parizo, Terry Benjamin and Debbie Terry, brother in-laws Baudel Martinez, Brad and Mark Eccleston, sister in-laws Sandy Parshall and Tammy Pierce as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and her loyal canine companion Rosie.
The family would like to thank Linda's many special caregivers including the staff at Hospicare, her niece Lorraine Eccleston, Becky Fink, Joanna Malmquist and a very special caretaker that became part of the family, Roxann Carlton.
As per Linnies’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral. A memorial service for will be held at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Linda may be directed to Hospice & Palliative Care Services, 11 Kennedy Parkway, Cortland, NY 13045.
