Lloyd Peck, Jr., 81, of Cincinnatus (Taylor), NY, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, while surrounded by his family.
Born in McDonough, NY on July 29, 1931, Lloyd was a son of the late Lloyd A. and Gladys Lansdowne Peck. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he worked as a mechanic for Agway in Cortland. Upon retirement, he worked for both the Town of Taylor and the Town of Cincinnatus. Lloyd was active in his community and was a life member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department, a long-time driver for the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, and a member of the Cincinnatus Fire Police. For several years, he served as the caretaker for the Cincinnatus Cemetery. He had also served as a board member for the Town of Taylor. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors and spent time fishing, hunting, and camping. A model airplane enthusiast, he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. He maintained a passion for working on various projects, especially small engines, and playing his guitar and harmonica at family gatherings. Most important to Lloyd was his family; a loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marjorie Peck; and his children, Jeffrey (Debra Holtmart) Peck of Cincinnatus, Judy (Steve) Gallow of Groton, and Joseph (Sharon) Peck of Norwich. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Nicole Agel, John Vickers, Karilea Gallow, Kyle Gallow, and Allen Gallow; his great-grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Agel; a brother, John (Linda) Peck of Pitcher; a sister, Mary (John) Fox of DeRuyter; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by two sisters, Birdie Pursley and Wilma Armstrong.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no prior calling hours or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at the Taylor Rural Cemetery on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Palmer Neumeister officiating. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lloyd may be directed to the Cincinnatus Fire Department, P.O. Box 427, Cincinnatus, NY.
