Louis R. Bruno, Jr.

Louis R. Bruno, Jr., 66, of DeRuyter, NY, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

Louie was born in DeRuyter, NY, on May 30, 1958, the son of the late Louis R. Bruno, Sr. and Jean Burdick Bruno Oralls. A lifetime resident of the area, he was a 1976 graduate of DeRuyter Central School. For 37 years, he was employed by Stickley Furniture in Manlius until his retirement.

A kind a gentle soul with a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile, Louie loved hunting, trapping, fishing, ice fishing, and playing horseshoes with his best friend, Steven Sutton, whom he considered to be a brother. Thank you, Steve and the guys up north, for Louie’s last hunting trip when he got his deer last year. It truly made his day. Louie loved to gamble, always hoping to hit the big one.

He loved his family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Doris Rice and her husband Roger, of Pitcher, along with his buddy “Rocky;” a niece, Sherry Bort and her husband Wayne of Hayes, VA and their son, Derek Bort and wife Cierra and daughter Reagan of Fletcher, OK, their daughter, Ashlee Robinson and her husband Cody and son Clayton and another son due in May of Newport News, VA; nephew, Steven Thompson and his wife, Dawn, of Pitcher and their daughters, Kiersten Thompson and her fiancé, Tai Chan, and their daughter, due in April, Maddison and Victoria Thompson, both of Pitcher; nephew, Jeff Rice and fiancé Jeanie Mowry and daughters, Marisa Raymond and her husband, Tanner and son Levi; niece, Makenzie Rice and her fiancé, Austin Rutan and Jeanie’s son, Easton Livermore; niece, Karin Owen and her husband, Michael and daughters, Delanie Renz and her boyfriend, Michael Wingert and Emilee Owen and sons, Parker Owen and Jameson Owen.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his mother's second husband, Merton Oralls, in 2014.

Memorial services for Louie will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Vern Groves officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, DeRuyter.
