Lucille V. McKee

Lucille V. McKee, 85, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, in the arms of her loving daughter.

Lucy was born on July 28, 1937 in Cortland, NY, a daughter of the late Waldo and Myra VanEpps.  She attended McGraw High School and Oneonta State University.  She had worked for McKee Equipment and Cortland County Alcohol Services.  She also spent time working and volunteering for agencies teaching parenting and life skills to young mothers.  Lucy had a passion for music and books and worked many years at the Lamont Memorial Free Library.  She was an active member of the McGraw United Methodist Church.  Lucy loved gardening and became a Cornell Master Gardner in her 70’s.  She also loved cooking and playing cards, but most of all she loved her family and friends.  Lucy was direct with her words, quick with a smile, and had a fabulous sense of humor.  She quickly touched the lives of all who met her and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Judy) McKee, Jonathan (Lori Mudge) McKee, and Valerie (Greg) Hotaling; her sister, Janice Allis; brother, David (Diane) VanEpps; brother-in-law, Eric Snow; as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her long-time partner, Paul Merihew; her sister, Sarah Snow; and her brother-in-law, Richard Allis.

Memorial services for Lucy will be held at the McGraw United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.  The family will be present to receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 3:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lucy may be directed to the Lamont Memorial Free Library, P.O. Box 559, McGraw, NY 13101.
