Lyle S. Johnson

Lyle S. Johnson, 80, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY.

Born in Smithville, NY, on January 16, 1943, Lyle was the son of the late John and Thelma Temple Johnson.  He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan after his basic training.  He was a self-employed contractor and woodworker.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing guitar with his band.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Merchant Johnson, and a daughter, Tracey (Ronna Poor) Johnson of Bath, NH.  He also leaves behind a brother, Ronald Johnson, of Plymouth, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a stillborn daughter, Dana Johnson, in 1969; a brother, John Johnson; a sister, Joyce Wells; and a niece, Marianne Johnson.

A Celebration of Lyle’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cincinnatus Fire Station.  There will be no prior calling hours.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lyle may be directed to the NYS Veteran’s Home at Oxford, 4207 NY-220, Oxford, NY 13830 or the Cincinnatus Fire Department, P.O.
