Marjorie I. Button

Marjorie I. (Marks) Button, 81, of McGraw, NY, and formerly of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.

Born in Cortland on November 23, 1931, Marge was a daughter of the late Carl and Beulah Young Marks.  She was a resident of Cincinnatus for most of her life, moving to McGraw in 1994.  She was a member of the Mount Roderick Home Bureau and had worked at several places throughout her life, including the Cincinnatus Nursing Home, Victory Markets, Jaline Togs Clothing Factory, and most recently as a cook for Ruth’s Diner in Polkville.

She is survived by her children, John (Kathie) Button, Jim (Karen) Button, and Debra (Jeff Peck) Holtmart, all of Cincinnatus, and Jody (Kathleen) Button of Fairport.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, John (Tina) Button, Jr. of TN, Mark (Janette) Button of Cortland, Tara Button of Cincinnatus, Toby (Maureen) Holtmart of Willet, Adam (Heather) Holtmart of W. Seneca, and Christopher Button of Fairport; her great-grandchildren, John Button, III, Alec Button, and Nickolas Button, of TN, Weston Button, Joshua Button, and Samantha Button, of Cortland, Alayna Holtmart and Collin Holtmart, of Willet, and Isabella Holtmart, of W. Seneca; her great-great-grandchildren, Lindin Button and John Button, IV; a sister, Lorena Tracy, of McGraw; a brother, Douglas R. Marks, of Fort Wayne, IN; and several nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Donald Button, on May 29, 2007, a sister, Jean Marks, and a daughter, Vicky Lynn Button.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.  Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Marge may be directed to the McGraw Fire & Rescue, 7 W. Center St., McGraw, NY 13101.
