Marjorie J. Parks

Marjorie J. (Calhoun) Parks, 88, of DeRuyter, NY, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, following a brief decline in health.

Born in DeRuyter, NY on August 5, 1937, Marge was the daughter of the late Crest and Marian Dennison Calhoun. A lifelong resident of the area, Marge dedicated countless hours working alongside her beloved husband, Ralph Parks, who predeceased her on September 22, 2019, after 64 years of marriage. Together, they nurtured not only crops but also a loving family that continues to thrive. Marge’s passions extended beyond farming; she was an avid gardener who found joy in tending to her flower beds, creating a haven of beauty and tranquility.

Marge is survived by her son, James Parks of DeRuyter, and her daughters, Andrea Bare of Michigan and Linda Parks of Ithaca. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Carrie Bradley and Fiona and Collette Bare, who brought immense joy to her life. Marge also shared a special bond with her sister, Barbara Roller of DeRuyter, taking comfort in their enduring relationship.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Donald Calhoun.
