Martha B. Small

Martha B. (Maricle) Small, 90, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at her home.

Born in Pitcher, NY on May 15, 1918, Mrs. Small was a daughter of the late Edwin and Hazel Loomis Maricle. A lifelong resident, she was a devoted member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as the manager of the Victory Market in Cincinnatus for over 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and was active with the Willet/Cincinnatus Sr. Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Sandy, of Concord, CA; and a sister, Reta Johnson, of Cincinnatus. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jeff (Jammie) Sandy of CA, Pamela (Robert) Rutherford of CA, Karen (Rich) Hamel of MI, and Jenny (Gary) Cockerill of MT and her great-grandchildren, J.J., John Robert, Amanda, Victoria, Emily, Nikolas, Tyler, and Trever; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Loren "Brick" Small on August 8, 1991.

Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with her pastor, Rev. Jill Schaeffer officiating. Burial will be in Cincinnatus Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Martha may be made to the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
