Matthew C. Monroe

Matthew C. Monroe,  24, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 3, 2020.

Matt was born in Cortland, NY, on May 24, 1996, the son of Brian (Lisa Lee) Monroe and Jody Lewis Johnson.  He was a 2015 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and had been employed by Vector Construction Company, Cicero.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Whitney Point Sportsmen Club and the Solon Sportsmen Club.  He also enjoyed playing golf, however, his number one passion was racing motocross.

He is survived by his mother, Jody (Christopher) Johnson of Cortland; his father, Brian Monroe of Willet; and his brother, Greg (Chelsea) Monroe and their son, Eli of Cortland.  He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Rose Purdy of Cortland; his maternal grandfather, Bill (Sandy) Lewis of Cortland; and his paternal grandparents, Jack and Sue Monroe of Solon; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private graveside service and celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.  There will be no prior calling hours.
