Norman L. Tracy

October 21, 1936 — February 6, 2020

Norman L. Tracy, 83, of Cincinnatus, NY, and more recently from Cortland, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at his home, while surrounded by his family.

Norman was born in Johnson City, NY, on October 21, 1936, the son of the late Raymond and Crystal Wire Tracy.  He attended McGraw Central School and for most of his life, resided in McGraw or Cincinnatus.  He retired from Suit-Kote (Concrete Materials) in 2000 after several years of service.  Prior to that, he had worked on various dairy farms in the area.  Norman was a member of the Solon Sportsman Club and, in his spare time, enjoyed camping with his family, cutting wood, and tinkering on various projects in his garage.  He especially cherished the special bond that he shared with his granddaughter, Cheyenne.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Rose Tracy; and his children, Scott (Patty) Fredenburg of Nedrow, Norman A. (Rose) Tracy of Cortland, Christine (Jeffrey) Crandall of McGraw, Richard (Kim Wentworth) Tracy of Homer, Dennis (Tina) Tracy of McGraw, Doreen Brewster of Cincinnatus, and Carolyn (Stephen Elwood) Tracy Nowalk of McGraw.  He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tracy and Sharon Tracy; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kevin Tracy, on November 4, 1981; brothers, William and Ronald Tracy; and a son-in-law, Glen Brewster.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no immediate funeral service.  A Celebration of Norman’s Life will be held at the Cincinnatus Fire Department on Sunday, February 16, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory Norman may be directed to the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, c/o Elaine Oros, 5771 McFarlane Road, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
