Robert L. Eccleston, 89, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY, while surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in McDonough, NY, on October 2, 1930, the son of the late Leon and Irene Rackett Eccleston. A lifelong resident of this area, he had owned and operated a dairy farm in Pitcher for 20 years. He retired from the Cincinnatus Central School after 36 years of service. He also served as president and caretaker for the Taylor Rural Cemetery for several years and spent many hours as a volunteer for RSVP and the Willet-Cincinnatus Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Boise Eccleston; and his daughters, Dawn (Baudel) Martinez and Yvonne (Richard) Parizo, all of Florida. He also leaves behind his stepchildren, Janice (Richard) Sloan of Harford, Linda (Mitchel) Eccleston of Cincinnatus, Connie (Larry) McFarland of FL, and Christine Aiken of Cincinnatus; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Ivan L. Eccleston, in 1968; a grandson, Robert “Robbie” Martinez; brothers, Gerald, Dewey, Clifford and Llewelyn; and sisters, Mary, Betty, and Elsie.
Memorial services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with Jeanne Angell officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Taylor Rural Cemetery.
