Robert A. Hotaling, Sr., passed away peacefully at his home in Solon, NY, on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 28, 1932, in Cortlandville, NY, Bob was the son of the late Dewitt and Goldie Rice Hotaling. He retired from Gutchess Lumber in Cortland after 43 years of dedicated service as a logger and machine operator. His work ethic and commitment to craftsmanship earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community alike.
He is survived by his devoted children: JoAnn Wyatt of Cincinnatus, Karen Maricle of Cincinnatus, Bonnie Bearup of McGraw, Robert Hotaling, Jr. of Cincinnatus, Linda Hotaling of McGraw, Lori Jacobs of Cortland, Patty Sue Norton of Groton, and Frank Hotaling, Sr. of Cincinnatus. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his sistesr Marian Towers of Owasso, OK, and Darlene Genovese of Melbourne, FL and a brother Carroll Harris, of Owasso, OK.
The legacy of Bob lives on through his 21 grandchildren as well as several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to share stories of his warmth, wisdom, and enduring spirit.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia M. Hotaling, who left this world on December 27, 2017. He is also survived by the memory of his brothers, Floyd Hotaling and Joseph Harris, who have since passed but remain cherished in the hearts of their family.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bob may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
