Ruth Blanchard, 83, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at her home, while surrounded by her family.
Born in Cincinnatus, NY, on August 27, 1936, Ruth was the daughter of Stanley and Ilah Carrier Sargent. A lifelong resident of Cincinnatus, she was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus. She retired from Cincinnatus Central School in 1995 after 31 years of working in food service. She was also a member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Jeffrey) Braman of Cortland, and JoAnne (Michael) Collins of Homer. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Melissa (Pete) Weaver, Matthew (Jill) Welsh, Patrick (Lacey) Braman, and Jaclyn Braman; her great-grandsons, Wyatt and Briggs Welsh; brothers-in-law, William Greene and James Blanchard, both of Cincinnatus; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members, including Doug Welsh of Cincinnatus.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth Blanchard, on February 2, 2020, and her sister, Barbara Greene, on June 8, 2014.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Sunday, June 14, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ruth may be directed to the Cincinnatus Fire Department, c/o Beth Davis, P.O. Box 427, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
