Stella M. Riehl

Stella M. (Shepard) Riehl, 75, of DeRuyter, NY, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, while surrounded by her family.

Born in Chateaugay, NY, on July 3, 1941, Stella was the daughter of the late Orvill and Evelyn Shatraw Shepard.   Over the years, Stella worked at many places in the area, including Crescent Corset and Cortland Line.  Prior to moving to this area, she also worked at several different jobs in Florida, including housekeeping for motels and at a dog track in Palm Beach.  She loved flowers and gardening where she grew her own fruits and spices.  She also had a passion for all sports, and was especially fond of NASCAR racing and watching her favorite driver, Jimmy Johnson.

She is survived by her five sons, Raymond Hubbard of Miami, FL, Ralph, Ronald, Randy (Julie) and Richard Hubbard, all of DeRuyter; her stepdaughters, Roxann, Cheri, and Valerie; her sisters, Shirley (Richard) Ingrahm of Willet and Barbara Hill of Marathon; and a brother, Lloyd (Kathy) Shepard of Willet; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Riehl, on July 23, 2008; and nine siblings.

A memorial service will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Friday, September 9, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.  Burial will be in North Pitcher Cemetery.
