Susan Lee Maricle

Susan Lee Maricle, 63, of Cortland, NY, and formerly of E. Freetown, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

Susie was born in Cortland, NY on September 24, 1950, the daughter of Ralph and Joyce Cardner Maricle.  A longtime resident of the area, she attended Cincinnatus Central School and had previously been employed at the J.M. Murray Center, Cortland.  The self-proclaimed “Irish Princess,” Susie had participated in many Special Olympic Games where she won several medals for her swimming ability.

She is survived by her father, Ralph Maricle and his wife, Jane, of Cortland; a brother, Dale (Karen) Maricle of Solon; and sisters, Lynda (Leslie) Clark of Lodi, CA and Kim Bomysoad of Castle Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

Her mother, Joyce Maricle, predeceased her on September 25, 1978.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating.  Burial will be in Marathon Cemetery at a later date.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home prior to the funeral service on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Susie may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association of CNY, 441 W.
