Terena M. (Stone) Loomis, 80, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, March 27, 2023, at her home.  She was never alone and passed peacefully with her loving family by her side.

 

Born in Cortland, NY, on January 25, 1943, Terena was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Vera Reynolds Stone.  A longtime resident of Cincinnatus, she was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus where she served as financial secretary to the women’s group and outreach committee.  She retired from Cincinnatus Central School after 33 years of dedicated service where she worked in administrative services.  She was a board member of the Cortland-Chenango Rural Services; and a member and secretary of the Cincinnatus Fire Department and EMT for the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad.  She also served as fire commissioner and chairman of the fire commission board.  She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and chairman of the Cincinnatus Beautification Committee.  Most important to Terena was her family and the Cincinnatus Central School.  She was a member of the Cincinnatus Booster Club; served on the Board of Education and was instrumental in reinitiating the Cincinnatus Central School Alumni Association in 1991.

 

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dale Loomis; and her children, Chrystal Loomis of Cincinnatus, Mark (Linda) Brown of Cincinnatus, Derek Raimo of Cincinnatus, Debra (Eric) Tillman of Morrisville, NC, Gordon (Kimberly) Brown of Cincinnatus, Bryan Brown of Cincinnatus, and James Loomis of Carolina Beach, NC.  She also leaves behind her brothers, William (Diane) Stone of McGraw and Wayne (Sandra) Stone of Hollywood, FL; a sister, Teresa (Clifford) Carlin of Greene; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Victor and Billy Stone; and a son-in-law, Kevin Loomis.

 

The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus on Friday, at 11:00 a.m., with her pastor, Pastor George Carruth officiating.  Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, South Otselic, NY.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Terena may be directed to the Cincinnatus Central School Alumni Association, 2809 Cincinnatus Road, Cincinnatus, NY 13040 or the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, c/o Jeff Fox, P.O.
