Wilbur C. Rogers

Wilbur “Will” C. Rogers, 73, of Groton, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.

Will was born in Cortland, NY on August 29, 1939, a son of the late Wilbur H. and Dorla Smith Rogers.  A longtime resident of the area, he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961.  He was a former member of the Groton Fire Department and Emergency Squad.  He retired from Gilbane Building Company in 2008 and had previously worked at Empire Soils and Cornell University.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Maureen Catlin Rogers, and his children, Brian Rogers of MD, Terry Rogers of Homer, Brent Christian of Cortland, Denise (Patrick) DeLucia of Homer, and Kristy Cisneros of Groton.  He also leaves behind his brothers, Robert (Gloria) Rogers of Cortland, Donald Rogers of MO, and Roy (Alyce) Rogers of OK; his sisters, Marcia Payson of ME, Mary Lou Lehman of Johnson City, Elaine (Jim) Aiken of Pitcher, and Diane Slade of Groton; 10 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Suzanne Block officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m.
